Worst part of quilting

I don't like ironing. I really, really don't like ironing. Some people enjoy it. I find it boring. But it is necessary when quilting. For tshirt quilts, ironing is worse because you have to iron the shirt first before you iron the backing. Ok. You really aren't ironing. It's more like pressing. Still...I don't like it. But today, I got all of the tshirts backed and ready for assembly!

While we're on the topic of backing, I don't think I ever shared which backing I prefer. I like Pellon's 911FF, featherweight. It is just the right amount to stabilize, but not too bulky. If you make a double sided quilt, which I am usually guilty of because I try to use as much of the shirt as I can, it doesn't end up so thick that it's impossible to quilt.

From the tshirt count and some quick math, it looks like Matt's quilt will be around a king size. Still trying to decide if I'm going to quilt as I go or piece the entire top and wrangle it under my machine. Maybe I should take my husband up on that long arm quilter...

My birthday present! A Babylock Unity!

I was pretty frustrated with my quilting machine! I have had an Elna Quilter's Pro 7200 for almost 10 years now. It has been a great machine and we have created many beautiful quilts with it. But, the time had come for a new machine. After looking through reviews and watching YouTube videos and playing with machines at the sewing center, I bought a floor model Husqvarna Topaz 30. 2018 Recap Hey guys! I'm back! I know I haven't posted a lot this past year. But it's been an exciting, hectic few years for us as a family. I've made several quilts that I'm going to blast through. As I get older, times flies by so fast! Not a joke. So all of you youngsters out there, enjoy each day and don't take it for granted! 1. Another member of the family

We all love our kids and want to keep those old baby clothes. I've made a couple of memory quilts with old kids clothes. I need to post pictures of the last one I did because I made a huge boo boo. But my quick thinking husband helped me figure a fix. That's not what I want to write about now. I want to write about our pets. Our other kids that we love. The ones that don't talk back and actually listen to you. A good friend of mine lost her beloved dog. He was a great dog and she took him to a lot of shows. He was her baby.
