Worst part of quilting

I don't like ironing. I really, really don't like ironing. Some people enjoy it. I find it boring. But it is necessary when quilting. For tshirt quilts, ironing is worse because you have to iron the shirt first before you iron the backing. Ok. You really aren't ironing. It's more like pressing. Still...I don't like it. But today, I got all of the tshirts backed and ready for assembly!

While we're on the topic of backing, I don't think I ever shared which backing I prefer. I like Pellon's 911FF, featherweight. It is just the right amount to stabilize, but not too bulky. If you make a double sided quilt, which I am usually guilty of because I try to use as much of the shirt as I can, it doesn't end up so thick that it's impossible to quilt.

From the tshirt count and some quick math, it looks like Matt's quilt will be around a king size. Still trying to decide if I'm going to quilt as I go or piece the entire top and wrangle it under my machine. Maybe I should take my husband up on that long arm quilter...

Just in time for graduation!

I finished another graduation quilt!!! It's for a good friend of mine's son. And good thing too. He graduates in two weeks! It's the best one that I've made so far! I did black and gold sashing for Vanderbilt colors. I also embroidered "Vanderbilt university" on top and "Commodores" on the bottom border. The finished quilt is 96 inches wide x 130 inches long. You may be wondering why it's so long. Nick is 6 foot 7 inches tall. So it should cover him nicely! Happy quilting y'all!

2018 Recap Hey guys! I'm back! I know I haven't posted a lot this past year. But it's been an exciting, hectic few years for us as a family. I've made several quilts that I'm going to blast through. As I get older, times flies by so fast! Not a joke. So all of you youngsters out there, enjoy each day and don't take it for granted! 1. The most exciting event is m y youngest son got married to a very sweet young lady, Lily. Their picture is below. It was the most beautiful, calm, full of love wedding that I've been to. We had only close family and a few friends. Aren't they gorgeous! 2. My husband and I traveled to Italy for two weeks to see my sister and brother in law. We had a fabulous time! Let there be light!

My eyesight seems to be getting worse and worse. Quilting on the Handiquilter at night gave me headaches. I even borrowed my husband's headlamp. I went by Huntsville Sew and Vac and looked at all of the accessories for the Handiquilter. I saw this pack of LED lights that stick onto the frame. It made so much of a difference! I cut a section of the strip off and it made the rest a little brighter.
