Front and Back and then some....

I finished stabilizing Matt's shirts.  I laid out the  top and bottom of the quilt and of course, I am short a few. I have a lot of extra blank shirts soooo....I had a great idea!!  I asked his family to send me a message for Matt. I plan to embroider them on the blank shirts.  It will be a surprise for Matt for graduation.  I hope it turns out great and he loves it.

Worst part of quilting

I don't like ironing. I really, really don't like ironing. Some people enjoy it. I find it boring. But it is necessary when quilting. For tshirt quilts, ironing is worse because you have to iron the shirt first before you iron the backing. Ok. You really aren't ironing. It's more like pressing. Still...I don't like it. But today, I got all of the tshirts backed and ready for assembly! While we're on the topic of backing, I don't think I ever shared which backing I prefer. I like Pellon's 911FF, featherweight. It is just the right amount to stabilize, but not too bulky. If you make a double sided quilt, which I am usually guilty of because I try to use as much of the shirt as I can, it doesn't end up so thick that it's impossible to quilt. From the tshirt count and some quick math, it looks like Matt's quilt will be around a king size. Still trying to decide if I'm going to quilt as I go or piece the entire top and wrangle it under my ma

Another tshirt in the works!

I am working on my next tshirt quilt. I have a deadline of April to finish it. The recipient is a good friend of the family's who will graduate from Auburn with a mechanical engineering degree. So I want to do a great job.
